The Office of Joseph J. Katta, M.D., P.A. has been serving the Treasure Coast community for over 30 years offering full-fledged diagnostic and therapeutic care for diseases of the digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon), pancreas, and liver. We strive to provide the best patient-centered digestive care to the community in a friendly and comfortable environment. We know our patients and take pride in providing them with personalized care and understanding their individual needs. Our team of highly qualified gastroenterologists can perform diagnostic tests and provide treatments for a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders. We also have an experienced professional support team of Nurse Practitioners who provide care when you need it. Whether you are suffering from common ailments such as reflux, intestinal gas, heartburn, constipation, gallstones, or more complicated issues such as inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis or a gastrointestinal cancer, our experts can help you in clinically assessing your condition, performing diagnostic tests and providing you with evidence-based care.

Our office has three easy to find locations in the Treasure Coast: the main office is located in Fort Pierce, FL in the vicinity of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute; the second location is in East Port St. Lucie by the hospital at St. Lucie Medical Center and the third location is at St. Lucie West near Tradition Medical Center. We perform procedures such as endoscopies, colonoscopies, esophageal dilation, and hemorrhoidal banding at our state-of-the-art surgical center, Treasure Coast Surgical Center, Inc. in Fort Pierce, FL. Wherever you are being treated, we aim to make your visit as simple and convenient as we can. We also do our best to make the experience as comfortable as possible, even if you need to have an invasive test such as a colonoscopy or endoscopy. We also offer same week appointments to our patients when they need to be seen on an urgent basis. Our Doctors

Joseph J. Katta, M.D.

Dr. Katta graduated from the Osmania Medical College, NTR University of Health Sciences, Hyderabad, India in 1979. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University School of medicine. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Katta has founded the practice to serve the community of the Treasure Coast in 1986 and is the medical director. Dr. Katta’s areas of expertise include general gastroenterology, colon cancer screening, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). He is affiliated with Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, St Lucie Medical Center, and Tradition Medical Center.

Sherine M. Abdalla, M.D.

Dr. Abdalla is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. After obtaining her medical degree from the University of Alexandria, graduating with Honors, Dr. Abdalla completed a research fellowship at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine focusing on molecular mechanisms in diseases of the thyroid. Subsequently, she completed her internship, internal medicine residency training, as well as advanced subspecialty fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/ Jackson Memorial Health System, where she trained on state-of-the-art innovative diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of digestive disease. Dr. Abdalla’s research has been published in prestigious, high impact journals. She has also been invited to present the outcomes of her research in numerous conferences and scientific meetings around the country.

Dr. Abdalla’s patient care philosophy is to provide individualized, compassionate care to all her patients. She works together with every patient to accomplish her or his desired goal and overall wellbeing.

Dr. Abdalla’s areas of clinical expertise include general gastroenterology, colon cancer screening, as well as endoscopic procedures of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. She also treats patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and liver diseases.

Dr. Abdalla has a special interest in women’s health, and ensures women in the community have access to world-class digestive care in a comfortable and supportive environment. She is available for consultation in our offices in Fort Pierce, East Port St. Lucie, and West Port St. Lucie, and holds privileges at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and St. Lucie Medical Center, where she manages inpatients and deals with emergencies. She performs her elective procedures at the Treasure Coast Surgical Center.

Robert S. Epstein, M.D.

Dr. Epstein attended and graduated from University of Miami School of Medicine with a Ph.D. in 1977 and an MD in 1983. He completed his internal medicine residency at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in 1987 and completed his Fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Medical University of South Carolina in 1991. He was an attending physician in several hospitals in Syracuse, New York before relocating to Florida in 2016. He is Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He brings many years of experience to the practice here in Florida and has offices in both Ft Pierce and Port St Lucie.

He is proficient in endoscopic procedures of the GI tract including upper endoscopies and colonoscopy, and performs hemorrhoidal ligation as well as wireless capsule endoscopy. He has extensive experience in treating all forms of gastrointestinal diseases and maintains a level of excitement in seeing patients both existing and new.

Lisamarie Simmons, ARNP

Lisamarie Simmons is a Nurse Practitioner Specialist in Fort Pierce, Florida. She graduated in 2016. Having more than 2 years of diverse experiences, especially in Nurse Practitioner. Lisamarie Simmons is affiliated with Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, St Lucie Medical Center and Tradition Medical Center

Gloria Jean Huber, ARNP

Gloria Jean Huber is an ANCC Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with 12 years experience in Gastroenterology, has practiced with Dr. Joseph Katta from 2006 to present. She Graduated with her Masters from Barry University in Miami in 2006 as a Family Nurse Practitioner and has specialized in Gastroenterology. She is affiliated with Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, St Lucie Medical Center and Tradition Medical Center. She graduated with honors, Sigma Theta Tau International.

Manuel Domagtoy, ARNP

Manuel is a board certified adult Nurse Practitioner specializing in gastroenterology. He joined our practice in 2013 and is affiliated with Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and St Lucie Medical Center.

Manuel earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in nursing degree from Florida Atlantic University. Prior to earning his nurse practitioner certification Manuel practiced nursing in Vero Beach, focusing on Hemodialysis.
